Run automated web research to gather public intelligence about the client before the audit begins.

What this is

Web intelligence is an automated research step that crawls publicly available information about the client, their website, press releases, news coverage, job postings, and similar signals, and synthesises a structured briefing. The output feeds into the AI analysis and framework steps. Running web intelligence is optional but typically improves analysis depth.

Web intelligence consumes 50 credits each time you run it. Check your credit balance before triggering this step.

Before you start

• Your client profile must be saved and include the client’s website URL.
• Verify your credit balance: click your workspace avatar → Account → Credits. You need at least 50 credits.
• Web intelligence works best when the client has a public web presence. Results for very small or private companies with minimal web footprint will be sparse.

Procedure

1. Open your project and navigate to Web Intelligence in the lifecycle stepper.
2. Review the pre-filled seed URL (pulled from the client profile). Edit it if needed.
3. Optionally add additional URLs, LinkedIn company page, Crunchbase profile, relevant news articles, to broaden the crawl scope.
4. Click Run web intelligence.
5. The job runs asynchronously. A progress indicator appears; typical runtime is 1–3 minutes depending on the number of URLs.
6. When complete, the Research briefing panel populates with structured sections: Company overview, Market position, Technology signals, AI readiness indicators, Recent news.
7. Review the briefing. You can edit any section before it is used in analysis.

You can re-run web intelligence at any point before final analysis. Each run costs 50 credits and overwrites the previous briefing. Edit the briefing directly if you only need minor corrections rather than re-running.

Limits and gating

• Credit cost: 50 credits per run.
• Rate limit: One concurrent web intelligence job per project.
• URL limit: Up to 5 seed URLs per run.
• Web intelligence is not available on the free trial. Solo, Team, and Enterprise plans all have access.

Common issues

“Run web intelligence” button is disabled. The client profile is missing a website URL, or you have insufficient credits. Check both.

Job appears stuck at 0 %. Refresh the page. If the status remains stuck after 5 minutes, the job likely failed silently. Click Retry or contact support.

Briefing is empty or very thin. The client’s web presence may be minimal. Add more seed URLs (LinkedIn, news articles) and re-run, or proceed with a manually written briefing.

I was charged credits but no briefing appeared. This is a known issue when the crawl completes but the synthesis step times out. Contact [e-mail] for a credit refund.
